In the heart of LA's hustle, life can be busy, especially for model and influencer @JourdanSloane. We chatted with Jourdan about her tips on how to break the rush during a busy work week, discovering the art of slowing down, chilling out, and taking life one step at a time in her havaianas flip flops. Whether it’s finding peace while traveling by maintaining a daily routine (including workout clothes and comfortable sandals), or spending time out at a great meal with her boyfriend or the girls - Jourdan loves to kick back and recharge with her favorite beach flip flops.
It’s Sunday brunch, where are you going but more importantly, what are you wearing?
For brunch, I love Bluey's in Santa Monica. It’s a really laid back Australian breakfast spot that has the best coffee. I am most likely wearing low rise jeans and a white tank with fun sunglasses and a pop of color in my havaianas.
What’s your favorite workout during the weekend?
My favorite workout over the past few years that has totally transformed my body and mindset around working out is pilates. The movements are so beautiful and help me lengthen and tone. I don’t have to wear sneakers during the workout and normally go barefoot, so I often just slide on my havaianas and go!
What’s your favorite thing to do during the weekend that you can’t do during the weekday?
I work hard during the week so that I can play and have freedom on the weekends without guilt. I love going to fun dinners with the girls or out to a bar with friends. I also love having full days on the weekend to get coffee, groceries, and go to the farmers market or beach.
It’s Saturday and it’s also a beautiful day to go to the beach. Which beach are you going to and what are your favorite things to do there?
I absolutely love Malibu. The bluffs, the water, the rocks! It’s so picturesque. I love El Matador Beach as well as Zuma. Most of the time I’ll take pictures, play music, and walk along the water.
What’s your weekend philosophy? What’s the best way to spend it?
Recharging, undivided attention to my loved ones and friends, and resetting on Sunday.
What do you do to unwind after a busy work day?
When I am home in LA, I am simple and try to be in as much of a routine as possible. I travel almost 6 months of the year so I’ve had to perfect my home routine. After a busy work day, I work out at the gym to clear my mind and move my body. I love to do pilates, or walk on the treadmill for 30 minutes, followed by a sauna. Once I’m home I will take a hot shower, eat dinner, and finish up extra work on my couch before I go to bed around 11:30.
You’re making a healthy dinner at home, where are you getting the ingredients? Where are you getting groceries?
If I cook, I will go to Whole Foods and pick up some ingredients like fresh salmon, broccoli, and sweet potatoes for dinner. I rarely cook dinner at home, so I’ll stock up on breakfast food and snacks. Lots of fruit, veggies, chips, yogurts and cottage cheese.
Where do you go in LA to feel a sense of escape?
Most of the time when I need an escape from LA, I’ll get on a flight and go to Texas where I spend half the year (LOL). But when I truly need an escape within LA, I’ll go to a flower shop and pick up fresh flowers for my home, drive to the beach, or go for a hike.
What’s your 5-9 before your 9-5?
I normally wake up around 7 am. I do my skincare, put on a comfortable outfit and walk to get coffee. Then I’ll either put on a workout set & go to Pilates or sit at home at my dining table with my coffee and organize my day, plan content, and current jobs.
What does a dream full wellness day look like for you in LA?
My ideal wellness day is waking up and having time to do my full skincare routine (cleanse, mask, guasha, and red light.) Then I’d head to Pilates after having coffee and a quick breakfast. After pilates I’d walk to Erewhon and get a post workout snack and coffee.
It’s a full laptop day and you don’t feel like working from home, where do you go?
Normally a hotel like the Santa Monica Proper. Their service is amazing and I can justify spending money on a coffee or glass of wine later in the day because I’m being “productive”. It's also very aesthetically pleasing and I can shoot content there if needed.
Where do you go for a quick lunch in LA that feels like a quick escape?
This is so basic, but I love Erewhon because I know the ingredients are good, and I can switch up my lunch anytime due to so many options on their menu. I also love Dialog Cafe. The harvest salad is my favorite.
Of course a wellness day should include some shopping, where are you going and which Havaianas are you wearing?!
If anything, I’m buying my favorite snacks from Erewhon or restocking on some face masks from Sephora. I’ll probably throw on my Brazil Logo Havaianas.
You're having a weekday dinner with the girls. Where is your favorite spot?
Craigs or Sunset Tower, Tower Bar! Craigs has my favorite steak and pierogi and Sunset Tower has my favorite chopped salad and turkey chili. Both have amazing vibes and wonderful cocktails.
It’s a spa day in LA, where do you go and which color of Havaianas are you bringing?
I rarely go to the “spa” but I DO go to my dermatologist in Beverly Hills where I get Hydrafacials. I’ll also book a lymphatic drainage massage with Brazilian Beauty bar after a workout when I’m in need of a real detox. I’m most likely wearing a matching black workout set and my black Havaianas.
You’re going for a walk or heading to a meditation, which Havaianas are you wearing?
Whichever matches my workout set! Probably, the black pair.
